Stegotetrabelodon emiratus lived in the Late Miocene, about 8–6 million years ago, and its remains come from the Baynunah Formation of western Abu Dhabi.
Stegotetrabelodon emiratus is an extinct primitive elephant (family Elephantidae), described by Sanders in 2022, and the earliest known species of its genus.
