According to Kew's World Checklist, ghaf is native to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, the Arabian Gulf states, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, and introduced in Java (Indonesia) and Myanmar.
Ghaf originated in the Thar Desert of India and Pakistan, with isolated populations in Oman, Yemen, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
