The female veiled chameleon usually lives about five years and the male up to eight years, and it reaches maturity within 4–5 months. After successful mating, the female's colour changes within 18 hours from light green to blackish green with blue and yellow spots, and 20–30 days later she lays 35 to 85 eggs; she may breed up to three times a year.
