Eelgrass

The USDA description of eelgrass notes that leaves tend to be shorter in shallow sandy sites and longer in deeper, calm conditions with muddy bottoms; these differences are associated with growing conditions.

The USDA fact sheet links eelgrass wasting disease to Labyrinthula zosterae and reports severe impacts in the North Atlantic during the 1930s.
