African clawed frog

The frog Xenopus laevis has fully webbed hind feet with hard black claws on the first three toes.

Xenopus laevis has no tongue, has a small tentacle below each eye, and has a total body length of 5 to 14 centimeters.

Xenopus laevis is a tetraploid of hybrid origin, formed about 17 to 18 million years ago from two diploid ancestral species.
