The dromedary is extinct in the wild and is now kept as a domestic animal. It is kept across a range stretching from Senegal and Mauritania in the west to Somalia and Kenya in the east, and across North Africa, the Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula and Iran to north-western India. Feral populations introduced to central Australia also exist.
