In the red fox Vulpes vulpes, the young is born with poor sight and hearing and with dark, greyish fur, and its appearance then changes as it grows and its eyes and ears open. The name "al-hijris" denotes the young of the fox in some heritage dialects; however, the observed data on young of the species in general do not establish subspecies-specific measurements for Vulpes vulpes arabica. The same adult fox model should not be used merely scaled down without checking the individual's age and suitable images.
