Umbrella thorn acacia

Samr is usually 4–8 m tall (up to 20 m), with a dense flat umbrella-like crown, tiny leaflets, fragrant white to yellow flowers and twisted pods that give it the name 'tortilis'.

Samr withstands severe drought thanks to a deep taproot that can reach aquifers 40–50 m down, tolerates strong salinity and temperatures from 0 to 50 °C, and fixes nitrogen, improving the soil.
