Where it is found

GRIN lists a native range in parts of Mexico and Guatemala for Zea mays, a name under which it lists several subspecies. Flora of China reports widespread cultivation in China, and Flora of Pakistan reports cultivation as a summer crop. A study published in 2021 also records maize among crops cultivated on the terraces of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in northern Oman.
