An annual, much-branched, glandular-hairy herb 12–80 cm (up to 1 m) tall, with imparipinnate leaves of 7–17 toothed elliptic leaflets; flowers are usually solitary, white, light blue or purple, and the inflated, pendulous pod is 2–3.5 cm long with 1–4 seeds.
