A stoloniferous herb with erect, quadrangular stems 30–130 cm tall and sessile or subsessile, ovate-oblong to lanceolate, serrate leaves 2–7 cm long, gland-dotted beneath. Flowers are in long, slender cylindric terminal spikes, with white, pale pink or purplish corollas.
