The corm is about 3 cm across with a light yellow to yellowish-brown reticulate-fibrous tunic; there are 9–15 narrow leaves 15–20 cm long. The fragrant flowers, one or two, have purple perianth segments 4–5 cm long, yellow anthers, and a style with three recurved deep red branches 2.5 cm or longer.
