Baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is a unicellular fungus whose cells under the microscope are mostly spherical or oval, and a bud forms on the mother cell during asexual reproduction. Cell shape and size vary between strains and growth conditions, so all isolates should not be represented as completely identical cells.
