The rooster differs clearly from the adult hen: the rooster has a larger comb and wattles, a larger spur that grows with age, longer and pointed neck feathers (hackles), long pointed sickle feathers covering the main tail feathers, and long saddle feathers on the back; the hen's comb, wattles and spur are smaller.
